During his address to the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan touched upon the issue of Kashmir, highlighting the importance of a just and lasting peace in the region through dialogue and cooperation between India and Pakistan.Erdogan emphasized Turkey's commitment to supporting steps that promote peace in Kashmir and contribute to regional peace, stability, and prosperity in South Asia.

Call for UN Security Council reform
The Turkish leader also expressed his support for expanding the United Nations Security Council by making five permanent and 15 "temporary" members into permanent ones in rotation. Erdogan stressed the need to recognize that the world extends beyond the existing five permanent members, advocating for a more inclusive representation on the UN Security Council.
Erdogan's remarks follow his meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the G20 Summit in New Delhi, where they discussed strengthening trade and infrastructure relations.It is worth noting that Erdogan has raised the issue of Kashmir in previous UN General Assembly sessions, emphasizing the need for peace and stability in the region. In response, India has expressed its disagreement, emphasizing the importance of respecting the sovereignty of nations and reflecting on Turkey's own policies.
